Polar Pedestrian
Dummy
The Polar pedestrian dummy was designed, developed, manufactured
and tested under funding from Honda R&D, Tochigi, Japan.  Polar
represents a 50th percentile male pedestrian, and its anthropometry is
similar to that of Thor Alpha and Thor NT dummies.  It has an
innovative knee design that incorporates condyles, meniscus and
tendons.  Response corridors were developed by JARI from cadaver
tests.  During the development, the dummy was crash tested at JARI
and since then it has been evaluated by OEMs and restraint system
designers in Europe.   Polar is sold and serviced by GESAC.
